I used to think I was too, but being a 90's teenager was pretty sweet.  It was the time between the cold war and the forever war.  Every thing was looking up.   I think we’ve gone backward in a lot of ways.

I did enjoy being an 80s teenager. It’s just that being an armchair historian makes me a bit more nostalgic for earlier days. Had I been born in 1956, I would have just missed Vietnam, but only during the Summer of Love. I would have liked to have been at Woodstock.

Grunge was a necessary correction. There was als o that transitional period between hair and grunge that was fun. I call it the ‘wayne’s world’ period, also referred to as “Bill and Ted Rock”.  Kind of like we forgot how it was the 70s until about 1983-4 for most normal people.  (looking back at photos recently I realized that the 80s were more 70s than we remember).

Only if you believe we need the dark side to balance the light, the evil to balance the good.

But yes, what people think of as stereotypical 80s didn't start until a couple years in.

random bit of trivia: Bill and Ted was originally filmed in 1987 for a spring 88 release. but sat in limbo for a year. which is why in retrospec seem extra 80s.

There was a funny rolling stone article on all the hair bands that record labels signed in 1990 that were thrown away, when grunge took off.
